Extra information you might need :
Question: Do you need to pump the handle in order to release the steam?
Answer: No pumping is required. Once you set the steam level to Low, Medium or High, there is continuous steam until you push the steam level button again to select"off," or unplug it.
Question: Can you use it on hardwood floors?
Answer: Yes, a steam mop can be used on SEALED hardwood floors. This means sealed with polyurethane AFTER laying so that the seams are covered as well. This does NOT refer to pre-sealed or factory sealed hardwood floors that are laid leaving the seams vulnerable to water exposure. Note also that steamers should NOT be used on bamboo floors for the same reason. When used on poly-sealed hardwood floors, the steamer makes it shine better than any cleaner on the market which dulls the poly over time.
Question: Can a cleaning solution be used?
Answer: Anything other than water will likely burn itself onto the heater elements making them less efficient in the process and eventually burning them out. Also, turning cleaning agents into steam will possibly change their chemical nature and could become harmful to your floors and dangerous to you. Vaporizing ammonia solutions could be really nasty to your health.
Question: Does it take time to dry?
Answer: No, any steam mop will leave some moisture on the floor, but this one has three steam settings. So you can increase or decrease the amount of steam you get. If you use it in a medium setting you won't have any drying issues.
Question: How is it different from the pet version?
Answer: The original blue model (#1940/1940A) comes with "Spring Breeze" scented discs. The newer purple "pet" model (#19404) comes with "Odor Eliminating" discs for "neutralizing" pet odors. The specs on the Bissell website are identical for both mops (3 levels of steam control,flip-down easy scrubber brush, same size water tank, same mop weight, the same mop head dimensions, they use the same mop pads, same 2 year warranty etc.) and the exterior design looks the same (other than color).
Question: Does it sweep?
Answer: No, you should vacuum or sweep the floors first.
Question: Can you leave water inside in between use?
Answer: It is recommended not to leave the water in the reservoir. But if you are using distilled water there might not be a problem.
Question: How many mop pads do they give?
Answer: Two, one is thicker for deeper cleaning.
Question: How long is the power cord?
Answer: it is about 23 feet long.
Question: What are the mop measurements?
Answer: It is about 13 inches wide by 8 inches.
